The Zorki-4K camera (Zorki-4K) is the latest model of rangefinder cameras with interchangeable lenses, produced by the Krasnogorsk plant named after. Zverev.
Despite the fact that about 4 years have passed between the release of the first KMZ rangefinder cameras with a shutter cocking and Zorkim-14K, nevertheless, thanks to the fact that the designers were allowed to make changes to the design of this camera, so beloved by many photography enthusiasts . In general, nothing has changed - there is a self-timer, a bright viewfinder with a rectangular spot of the rangefinder in the center, and a pre-ignition for flash lamps. It became more convenient to cock the camera before shooting directly. In Zorkom-4K, there is no need to turn the drum for pulling - just use the trigger and in an instant the camera is ready to shoot.
The set of shutter speeds has remained unchanged - the maximum is still 1/1000, and for slow shutter speeds the retarder is automatically connected. Even 1/30, like the sync speed, remained in its strange place. Zorkiy 5 and Zorkiy-6 are different from this camera. Zorkiy-5 was quite advanced, but had a strange technical solution in the form of using an old body from cameras with a bottom film loading. Zorkiy-6 was at first glance just as advanced, but despite its unification with the Zenit-3M and the Kristall camera, it was discontinued in 1966. Zorkiy-4K, on the other hand, was produced from 1972 to 1980.
Although it seems to me that KMZ rushed in vain with the withdrawal of these rangefinder cameras from the production cycle. They fell in love with USSR photographers for their reliability, unpretentiousness and asceticism, and foreign photographers for everything the same, plus the inexpensive price they pay for those rare cameras that have survived to this day in working order. “If you want an inexpensive Leica, take the Zorkiy,” they say. And in general, they are right. The camera is the camera. And if you don’t have money for an expensive mechanical box, take a cheaper one. After all, after buying a good lens, money for a camera may not be enough.
Yes, in order to shoot with pleasure and not delve into it, you can push yourself and take some kind of Nikon or Canon SLR with autofocus and electronics to take pictures on the “point and shoot” principle. Of course, if you screw in the electronics, metering and autofocus in the Zorkiy-4K, will there be anything left of it that will cause some kind of thrill when shooting? Of course not. Perhaps you will think more about the creative component of photography? Perhaps, but Lomography is also an art. And art, as we know, is multifaceted. The filigree of autofocus and correct metering came to us from the Japanese - they are fans of Gaussian background blur - the back should not attract attention (this is understandable), but in pursuit of a clean background and a sharp picture with correct color reproduction, we get a mathematically verified picture, from which on the thirty-sixth frame, it starts to twist, because it has no soul.
When you take a photo in your hands (or view it on the monitor screen), being in your right mind, you are unlikely to look for pixel-by-pixel sharpness of the image, and then with a ruler you check the compliance of the image with the golden section rule. No, photography carries a piece of the past in the moment you captured. And the most cherished photographs in modern times in general are taken with what was at hand. And it doesn’t matter to you whether it’s Leica, Canon, or a smartphone – you have captured a moment, an emotion for yourself or recorded the first steps of a child on video.
Despite the fact that Zorkiy-4K today is quite a rightfully served milestone in the history of the development of domestic camera building, it should be recognized that many people shot, and someone else even shoots with these cameras, whether in pursuit of the magic of film color, or photosets under the "old times", it does not matter. The important thing is that in 1972, some people began a story that allowed others to carry memories through the years.
Zorkiy-4K is the latest modification of the KMZ cameras, which were produced on the rangefinder principle. After them, all production was focused on the mass scale of SLR cameras.
In fact, it is Zorkiy-4 with a cocked shutter.
Standard lenses of cameras Zorkiy-4K:
According to the catalog of 1200 cameras of the USSR, Zorkiy-4K has the following modifications:

The chambers were numbered by year. The first two digits of the number indicate the year of manufacture. For the period 1972-1978. about 525 copies were produced, and in 000 the last 1980 cameras were assembled from the remaining spare parts.
